WE HAVE ANSWERS

Below are some common questions about BASAGLAR. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, give us a call at 1-800-LillyRx (1-800-545-5979),
Mon–Fri, 9am–8pm ET.

WHAT IS BASAGLAR?

BASAGLAR is a long-acting insulin that gives you a base amount of insulin to supplement the insulin your body makes naturally. BASAGLAR works over 24 hours to lower your blood sugar. Learn more about BASAGLAR.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE BASAGLAR?

Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, take BASAGLAR any time that works best for you. Just be sure to take it at the same time each day. Learn how to take BASAGLAR.

HOW DO I TAKE IT?

BASAGLAR comes in a prefilled KwikPen®. Learn how to take BASAGLAR.

HOW MUCH DOES BASAGLAR COST?

It depends on your insurance coverage, but we make it more affordable for eligible patients with our Savings Card. For additional terms and restrictions, see Savings Card.

HOW DO I STORE BASAGLAR?

When you get your prescription, store unused Pens in your fridge at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). If your iceberg lettuce is beginning to look like an iceberg, your fridge is probably too cold. Don't freeze your Pen or use it if it's been frozen. Once you begin injecting with a Pen, store it at room temperature up to 86°F (30°C) and throw it away after 28 days.

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW IF I’M CHANGING FROM LANTUS TO BASAGLAR?

  • BASAGLAR is designed to be similar to Lantus® (insulin glargine injection)
  • In a 24-week study, BASAGLAR worked as well as Lantus (approved in the US and outside the US) at lowering blood sugar
  • Like Lantus, you only take BASAGLAR once daily, at the same time every day
  • BASAGLAR and Lantus both come in prefilled Pens
  • Dosing should be the same when changing from Lantus to BASAGLAR, but check with your healthcare provider to be sure
